It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.
- Theodore Roosevelt
Now that all the hard work has come to an end, I want to say a special “Thank You” to everyone who has donated their time, money, and/or expertise to my campaign. Thank you for everything, all your support, your talents, and your encouragement. We did good. We did really good. For anyone who doesn’t know, we got VERY close - within 2 percentage points - which is very good for someone with no political experience, and especially for someone who only actively campaigned for 6 months against a candidate who has been campaigning for the last 3 years.
It has been an amazing experience. I have met some of the most wonderful people along the way. And, I know that my life has been enriched by the process. I am touched by the support and I can truly say that I have made some lifelong friends during this time. I really hope you all know how much I truly appreciate all the "little stuff" you did. It is that "stuff" that makes a difference. All the emails, all the prayers, all the kind words, the sign holding and waving. Thank you.
As for everyone who has poured their heart into this campaign--I can say, without a doubt, we can all hold our heads high. We worked tirelessly to put forward a positive, straight-forward, and honest campaign. We maintained our integrity, and also our dignity. We did it all with transparency and accountability. So, we did good, VERY good. Not too many campaigns can say that with conviction. I am proud of every person on my team. It could never have happened without you!
About me...I am doing okay. Of course, I am disappointed. I really believed this opportunity was put before me for a reason. But, it just wasn’t my time. I know this family, this team, is not done. And, when we run again, we will still be the same people, steadfast in our convictions, and better for the experience!
Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.
-Thomas Jefferson
